Remember the Disney movie Inside Out?
It explores how our “inner” world and “outer” experience become one as eleven-year-old Riley’s emotions, embodied as characters who've lost their balance, go on their own journey so Riley can adapt to a major life change.
Why? I reject the idea of living in a divided country, and believe that a deeper understanding of the way that our challenging circumstances show up within each of us will allow us to address the root of our problems so that we can move forward.
To create a meaningful book that captures the “inner” world of America, I'm inviting people to
have a one-on-one conversation / experience with me.
The process is fun, refreshing, and most people seem to learn something new about themselves.
Here's what people usually ask
Find one or two things about the country right now that you can actually feel in your body when you think about them. That's what we will explore together.
Please see the youtube videos above. I will guide you to focus on a specific feeling or sensation you get when thinking about the country so that we can explore it further. You do not need to be "creative" or "artistic" to do this. It happens on its own.
In writing a book or creating other derivative works, I may share a transcript of our conversation without any personally identifiable information but will not share anything else without your permission.
Not at all. My interest is in exploring the inner experience of our external circumstances. If you choose to bring up politics, I will guide you back to what you sense and feel.
If I'm honest, anywhere from 20 to 75 minutes. You can leave at any point but I've found that sticking with it may yield an epiphany or transformational moment.
No but I strongly encourage it. Video helps because I can see your expressions and body language which gives me more context to guide you. The body communicates in a way that words can't.
Because I think as a country of individuals we're stuck talking with the head instead of the heart. We have far more in common than we think.
Great question. Sometimes I write here. I walk in the woods a lot these days too.
On the fence?
